V/Line crews will carry out maintenance and upgrade works between Maryborough and Ararat from
16 October to 10 February.
The freight line between Maryborough and Ararat is a significant piece of the V/Line rail network. The Armco pipes at this location were installed in 1975 and require regular maintenance.
Crews will take this opportunity to strengthen existing Armco pipes and install five new reinforced concrete pipes which will help maintain the lines structural integrity and ensure longevity.
What we are doing
Works will take place Monday to Saturday between 6.30am and 6.30pm from Wednesday 16 October to Monday 10 February, with Sundays only as required. Works will not take place at night or over the festive season from Saturday 21 December to Sunday 5 January.
Works will include:
- Concrete lining of existing Armco pipes
- Installation of 5 new reinforced concrete pipes
- Concrete lining of existing embankment
- Installation of walkway and handrail
What to be aware of
There will be regular movement of heavy machinery and trucks, and a significant amount of dust is expected at the work sites.
There will also be a high level of construction noise during the day.
Roads will not be closed but localised traffic management will be in place as required for community and worker safety.
Crews will access the site from the corner of Mitchell Road and Fay Street, and Nicol Street via Grano Street.
Due to the nature of these works, there will be additional light, construction noise and dust present at times throughout the day.
Thank you for your patience while we carry out this important work.
