Service changes on the Bendigo and Echuca lines

Bendigo line
Due to Level Crossing Removal works at Diggers Rest, there will be service changes for part of the journey on the Bendigo and Echuca lines from Friday 25 July to Monday 28 July.

Important message for passengers connecting with regional coaches along the Bendigo or Echuca lines – if your journey begins in Melbourne, please allow plenty of extra time to make your V/Line train connection at Sunbury Station. It is advised to depart from the city at least 90 minutes earlier as there may be delays on the metropolitan part of the journey.

Weekdays (Friday 25 July and Monday 28 July)

Bendigo and Echuca Line trains will only run between Bendigo, Echuca and Sunbury stations.

Passengers will travel on a Metro bus replacement service between Sunbury and Sunshine and a Sunbury Line Metro train between Sunshine and Southern Cross.



Travelling with bikes:
Passengers transferring between V/Line and Metro Train services are advised that bikes are not allowed on replacement buses running between Sunbury and Sunshine.

Extra travel time:
Passengers travelling on weekdays should allow an extra 90 minutes for the journey as there may be delays when transferring between Metro and V/Line services.

Planning your journey:
Passengers are advised to use the temporary timetables to plan your journey your journey on Friday 25 July and Monday 28 July. The V/Line and PTV Journey Planners, Google Maps and other trip planning apps will not show altered departure and arrival times during this disruption. 

Weekend (Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July)

Bendigo and Echuca Line trains will run between Bendigo, Echuca and Gisborne stations.

Coaches replace trains between Gisborne and Southern Cross.



Coaches will be a mix of express, semi-express and stopping all stations.

A temporary timetable for the weekend will be in place and available to download from the V/Line website. Passengers can also use the V/Line and PTV journey planners.
 
Passengers with accessibility needs are advised to call 1800 800 007 before travelling so we can provide the best possible service for your journey.

General Information

•    There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services 
•    Bikes are not allowed on Metro Train bus replacement services.
•    No pets or hot food/liquids allowed on replacement coaches.
•    Customers require a valid myki or paper ticket to travel on all V/Line replacement coach services. Please touch on and touch off your myki to ensure you pay the correct fare.
•    In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.
•    Customers with accessibility needs please call 1800 800 007 before travelling.
