Coaches replace trains on the Traralgon Line

19 Jun - 13 Aug 2025

Due to Gippsland Line Upgrade works, along with other project works, coaches will replace trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part the journey from night of Thursday 19 June to Wednesday 13 August.

Once completed, the Gippsland Line Upgrade will enable extra trains to run giving passengers more travel options.

Travel Advice

Use the temporary timetables to plan your journey as the V/Line and PTV Journey Planners, Google Maps and other trip planning apps may not show altered departure and arrival times.
Allow extra time for your journey and depart at least one hour earlier than usual if you're travelling from the city and connecting with a scheduled coach service.
Always check before you travel as the service plan may be different on your return trip.
Check the temporary timetable for the correct Metro train and V/Line coach connections before travelling.
Metro trains on the Pakenham Line depart from Platform 12 at Southern Cross and Platform 6 at Flinders Street stations.
When coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Traralgon, they do not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton and Berwick.

General Information

There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services.
No pets or hot food allowed on replacement coaches.
Customers require a valid myki or paper ticket to travel on all V/Line replacement coach services. Please touch on and touch off your myki to ensure you pay the correct fare.
The Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton and Berwick stations.
